Turning centre technology
November 1st 2006 Metalworking sub-contractor, Metaltech Precision in Somerset turns, mills, grinds, fabricates, shotblasts, paints, assembles and tests for well-known names in the medical, aerospace, petrochemical and printing industries. Total manufacturing is its forte and this has been achieved through sustained investment in CNC technology and a willingness to diversify. The plant list features 40 CNC machine tools – a 7.5kW XYZ VM 5000 three-axis bed mill and a 7.5kW XYZ ProTURN VL 425 twoaxis lathe – being recent additions. The 1930 by 355mm table size VM 5000 and 480mm swing-overbed ProTURN lathe, together with a 5.75kw XYZ 4000 bed mill are dedicated to the low volume side of the company's work.
