Sudden component separation is a danger when disconnecting couplings and operator safety may be compromised. The 410 disconnects in two stages so that the coupling is vented and the risk of, sudden component separation is minimised.
There is a short delay when the operator pulls the coupling and nipple apart, during which the parts are held together with latches. The company says this is a crucial pause that ensure pressure has time to drop before coupling and nipple are separated.
