Mobile and safe to use

Bombardier Transportation has adopted a Vacu-Blast closed-circuit mobile abrasive blasting system for in-situ surface preparation of localised areas of aluminium formed panels.

Two suction-fed machines – a SHA03 and a larger SHA04 – are used at the Derby site to produce an etched surface in specific areas where interface fastenings take place, thereby ensuring a secure and effective joint.

Chosen for their mobility, the machines feature an integral media regrading and recycling process that ensures a consistent, high quality surface effect and helps to minimise running costs. The media used is fine aluminium oxide.

The closed-circuit, mobile system is dust-free and can operate safely in close proximity to, and without hindering, other equipment or processes.
