Aqueous wash
March 1st 2005

Four component cleaning stations have been installed by MecWash Systems at Cosworth Technology’s new facility that is dedicated to the production of non roadgoing engines.

The aqueous-based, stand-alone units are used for cylinder heads and blocks for 4L, 4-cylinder diesel engines for JCB.

At the first wash station, a MecWash Midi receives individual heads via a sliding table mechanism before running a rotational high volume spray wash and high velocity air drying programme to remove swarf and oil. The wash programme is conducted within 6min.

Components are then automatically moved through a MecWash cooler.

Further machining follows before a second MecWash Midi is used. This has integral jetting that can be directed at a specific area of a component, a key element of the MecWash Ultimate Wash concept.
