Total fluid management May 1st 2004 Six years ago, following many years as one of a number of suppliers to the Land Rover Solihull plant, Castrol was awarded the Total Fluid Management contract for the Powertrain operation.
It is responsible for supplying and maintaining the lubrication needs of both plants everything from the 20 000l bulk storage tanks that feed the transfer lines to the bunding area, to individual machines.
The Powertrain operations commitment to TFM lets machine operators focus on their core business, component production.
For its part, Castrol has committed a team of 12 to the contract. Duties include maintaining soluble and neat metalworking fluids, making regular fluid management checks, topping up, cleaning and responding to emergencies.
It operates weekly preventive maintenance schedules for machine washes throughout the year and has taken on a commodity management system role. More articles from Castrol (UK) Ltd: |
