Big booths

Hodge Clemco has won a 3.2m contract for surface preparation and finishing facilities at a new aircraft maintenance centre being built for the Defence Aviation Repair Agency in South Wales.

The order follows collaboration with USA-based Global Finishing Solutions, for which Hodge Clemco is UK agent and involves building five booths: one for surface preparation; and four for painting. All can accommodate military jets.

The paint booths are 20m wide by 22m long by 8.5m high. They are designed to cope with specialised coatings, have three-stage filtration to minimise emissions and sophisticated heating systems to optimise the performance of the coatings.
