Some of the fastest wheelchairs in the world are made with the help of a Demmeler 3-D worktable by Carver & Co (Engineers).

Used at Draft Wheelchairs, Cambridge, the table is at the heart of the manufacturing process. The angles of the specialised tube that go to make up the chairs are critical. Use of the Demmeler table gives complete three-dimensional referencing, allowing each angle to be measured and set up easily before the tubing is finally welded.

During manufacture the company has to manufacture matching pairs as part of the frame, so reference points are very important. The table readily provides these and has allowed Draft to eliminate the requirement of upwards of eight bespoke fixtures, along with associated time saving and storage.
