Mould production costs cut

RenCast casting system is being
used in the casting and tooling of
housing parts for wind turbines by
a foundry in the Jiangsu Province
of China.
To maximise the number of parts
that can be produced from a single
mould, the foundry is using the
RenCast CW2418/HY 5162 epoxy
casting system, which has helped
to halve overall production costs of
the mould.
Durable moulds are said to be
produced more quickly than with
traditional moulding methods. The
system is said to be particularly
suitable for foundry applications as
it has good abrasive resistance, so
can withstand frequent exposure to
sand and chemical binders. It is
said to have excellent dimensional
