Reel success January 1st 2006 At X-Tek Innovations in Oldham, igus bearings are used on a cable reel for cameras used in underground pipes. The injection moulded, polymer bushes were chosen for their minimal wear, long life, low cost and ability to handle arduous conditions.
The reel uses two iglidur M250 thrust washers that are low weight, maintenance-free and noncorrosive.
Two igubal EFSM spherical flange bearings were also specified for the same reasons and because they are self-aligning.
The cable reel must withstand mud, sand and sewage and both types of bearing work well despite the dirty environment. They are resistant to damage and can cope with the shock and impact the reel undergoes in transit.
