Height gauge May 1st 2008 Building on the success of its
Micro Vertex height gauge, Eley
Metrology has added to its range
of measuring machines.
With a frictionless counter
balance and special
triangular spindle, the
Vertex 800 is driven
completely by air
bearings. The noncontact
drive
mechanism eliminates
cyclic error and lowers
the contact pressure of
the probe, while the
self-cleaning properties
of air bearings means
wear and tear is
minimal.
The unit is perpendicular to
less than 4 microns at the front
and 5 at the side without the use
of 'error correction'.
To reduce maintenance costs
there is a new 'spherical clamping
system' at the bottom and a
spherical 'expansion bearing' at
the top. The result is a stress-free,
floating column, adjusted from the
top for easy maintenance. |
