March 1st 2004 ESAB believes that with the launch of its Marathon Pac Endless system, the term uninterrupted welding takes on a new meaning.
Precision butt welding of the wire ends of Marathon Pacs in series makes it possible to provide a continuous supply of wire to an automated welding process.
As a result, productivity is enhanced as downtime for wire change and lost production following run-out is eliminated. Run-out weld defects and wire wastage are also avoided.
The system uses a two-Pac stand incorporating a wire conduit mounted on a swing arm to switch between empty and full Pacs. Wire ends are butt-welded together using a purpose made machine that cuts, aligns and welds the wires together, then grinds away welding burr. More articles from ESAB Limited: |
