Blasting safely May 1st 2008 Blast machines and dust collectors
from Hodge Clemco are enabling
Shutdown Maintenance Services
(SMS) to meet the health and safety
standards specified by Network
Rail for infrastructure maintenance.
This includes a requirement for
dust generated during abrasive
blasting work to be contained on
site and collected for disposal.
SMS has a contract to repaint an
iron bridge over the River Medway.
Paint is removed so that inspection
of the bridge can take place. The
structure is then blasted to 21/2
standard before new paint is applied.
Blasting is performed by six
Hodge Clemco 2452NC mobile
blast machines with hopper
capacities of 272kg and large bore
pipework. Two site dust collectors
with a capacity of 13 600m3/h draw
contaminated air away from the
work area, giving operatives a clear
view of their work. Both cartridge
filters and HEPA filters are included. More articles from Hodge Clemco: |
