Cutting fluid solutions January 1st 2006 MTU Aero Engines manufactures and repairs civil, commercial and military aircraft engines and has chosen lubricant manufacturer, Fuchs Lubricants, as a development partner and problem solver.
An initial success has been in the use of Fuchs Ecocool 2506 S for the machining of nickel and titanium alloys. The company says that it outperformed competitor products in large scale trials involving milling integral turbine blades, and significantly improved surface finish and tool life, even under difficult machining conditions.
The product is a watermiscible cutting fluid that is made with a carefully matched combination of mineral oils, emulsifiers and EP additives to provide cutting performance and lubricity. It offers good emulsion stability and corrosion protection and has low-foaming properties.
The products is used for turning, milling and grinding operations on aluminium and steel alloys.
