Assures tolerance
July 1st 2006

KMT Cutting Systems has launched a Tolerance Compensation system for its range of 6-axis robotic routing systems.

Routing is a dry cut process that uses an electrically-powered routing head with a spindlemounted bit, which is spun at speeds of up to 50 000rpm to trim edges and form holes and slots in a range of polymeric materials.

An advantage claimed for routing is that it has the ability to cut materials to a pre-defined depth and the new Tolerance Compensation system ensures that these depth cuts are carried out to the required tolerances.

The Tolerance Compensation system is one of a range of options, such as a barcode reader, skip functions, automated toolchanging system and air cleaning system that can be incorporated in the modular design of KMT's routing systems all designed to increase machine uptime and use.

KMT offers two types of robotic routing system. Both use a vertical worktable/flip-frame arrangement for ergonomic loading and unloading of parts.
