Cleaning up your act

Whether manufacturing and refurbishing components or undertaking preventative maintenance on plant machinery, cleaning plays a pivotal role.

There are three ways of performing this function, which are washing and degreasing, shot blasting and wet blasting.

Wheelabrator's Clean-Tek product range (pictured above) features environmentally friendly aqueous cleaning solutions. As an alternative to solvents, cleaning with water is no longer the costly process it once was and a varied selection of rinsing, degreasing and washing equipment is available.

The Clean-Tek Axis F1300/2 machine is a twostage, hot wash and rinse, front load system, commonly used in remanufacturing to remove dirt, oil, grease, tar and carbon from components. Designed to ensure the contaminant cleaned off is easily disposed of and kept separate from the waste water, the machine helps reduce costs with the maximum reusage of wash water.

Where components need to be cleaned of oils, swarf, dust and other contaminants and emerge 100% dry on a production line system, the Clean-Tek Inline C600, a wash, rinse, airknife and dry system, capable of high throughput, is a suitable option.

The drying system, which ENTER 412 Tel: 01827 717028 incorporates a particulate filter on the air feed, is aided by a powerful airknife, which shears off any remaining water prior to entering the recirculating hot-air dryer. Components emerge from the system clean, dry and ready for use or to be packed for shipping.

Ultrasonic cleaning systems, such as the Clean- Tek S6090, are becoming a popular choice with engineers as the flexible arrangement of these mix and match machines can be as simple or complex as required to clean the most difficult components to an extremely high standard.

The latest additions to the Clean-Tek range are the SB 300 and SB 400 rotating spray and floodwash systems, specially designed for metal part washing, degreasing and drying in small-to-medium batches.
