Solvent use reduced May 1st 2005 A hermetically sealed surface cleaning system supplied by Virotec has enabled Apeks Marine Equipment to make significant improvements to its degreasing plant.
The AMA Universal combines low running cost with high performance and complies with the SED Regulations 2004.
The system, which produces virtually zero emissions, has transformed metal degreasing activities for the diving equipment specialist. Mark Smith, maintenance manager and health and safety officer, comments “We have vastly reduced the amount of solvent since the Virotec system was installed.” The company previously used Trichloroethylene in an open top degreaser, whereas the new system is used with Perchloroethylene.
Available in various sizes, AMA machines have a closed circuit cleaning cycle, continuous distillation and drying in a clean, sealed environment.
Emission levels comply with the SED Regulations 2004 and, in many cases, consumption levels are below the 1000kg SED exclusion level. |
