COMPACT CLEANING SYSTEM FOR PARTS

Unicut Precision of Welwyn Garden City has installed a Dürr Ecoclean Minio 85C compact washing machine from StarragHeckert UK.

Charles Kenny, joint MD of Unicut Precision, says Cleaning in-house was taking up valuable time and changing legislation, health, safety and environmental problems were becoming so critical we decided to investigate methods to semi-automate the process.

We investigated different cleaning processes and carried out trials using parts that tend to be difficult to clean due to internal slots, cross drillings, intersecting holes and grooves that tend to trap swarf.

The decision to buy the Ecoclean was taken after trials at StarragHeckert’s showroom produced results that Kenny describes as ‘unbelievable’.

The compact machine has a floor area of 1000 by 2000mm and has a single front-loaded chamber with a basket size of 380 by 220 by 200mm.

The fully programmable single-stage immersion cleaning process is closedloop with 360° rotation, injection flood washing, vapour degreasing and vacuum drying, with the ability to maintain almost zero emissions.
