Compacts waste

A specially designed Randalls Simpak 1800 static waste compactor has been installed at Electrolux Outdoor Products in Newton Aycliffe, where Flymo lawnmowers are made.

The unit, commissioned when Foreman Recycling took over waste management of the site, has an unusual side-loading lift, compatible with Flymo's in-house waste tubs. It also has an exceptionally tall hopper and a tipper that lifts two different sorts of bin.

The compactor is reserved for general, nonrecyclable waste, such as floor sweepings and canteen waste, which is disposed of in landfill sites.

It can process around 10t of waste and, on the Flymo site, only requires emptying every six weeks, keeping down transport costs.

The charge box has a nominal capacity of 1.7m3 and 7.5kW motor drives up to a nominal 130m3/h, at a compaction force of 28 000Kgf
