Engineered for efficiency January 1st 2008 Lorien Engineering Solutions has helped pave the way for future growth and increased efficiency at Gerhardt's Derby site.
Over a 12-month period, the company worked to rationalise layout at the Castle Donington facility, allowing for increased coordination and an overall increase in efficiency.
Key features of the project included construction of a new compressor, toilet and general amenities block, new despatch area, and the creation of unified machine shop areas within an open layout. Even while major building work was going on, the factory managed to increase die production. As construction activity gradually became less intrusive, the amount of internally scrapped dies reduced significantly, and delivery reliability is now said to be the highest in the industry at 98.5%. The increase in efficiency has been so significant that the process has now begun at Gerhardt sites in the USA and Denmark. More articles from Lorien Engineering Solutions: |
