Empties waste
January 1st 2005

Nilfisk-Advance has designed and built for Bombardier Transportation a unit for emptying washroom waste tanks on trains.

The Controlled Effluent Tank (CET) features a powerful suction system and is used to extract washroom waste, primarily during overnight train cleaning and maintenance.

In accordance with environmental health regulations, a train must be taken out of service when the waste collection tanks are full. The CET allows quick and easy emptying where required with the minimum of disruption to train services.

The engineering team at Nilfisk-Advance designed the bespoke solution in consultation with Bombardier and Hull Trains.

The CET is powered by an on-board diesel generator and has a three-phase vacuum system, developed specially for the purpose.

Extracted waste is collected in an integral 400L stainless steel tank
