Vibration monitor up for technology Oscar September 1st 2004 The new condition monitoring vibration sensor efector octavis from ifm electronic is designed to keep watch over roller bearings and was selected as a finalist for the Hermes Award 2004.
This is a new scheme launched at this year’s Hannover Fair and represents Deutsche Messe’s own targeted contribution to stimulating technological innovation.
The efector octavis compact bearing monitor analyses the vibration signals in accordance with the frequency analysis method. A micromechanical accelerometer acts as the sensing element.
Model VB1001 monitors up to two different rolling element bearings, while the VE1001 can be used for monitoring up to 20 different frequencies. Damage to rolling element bearings is detected before it arises. The bearing monitor sets switching output 1 and indicates damage progress with yellow LEDs. The operator is then able to take preventive action.
Progressive damage to rolling element bearings is signalled via the second switching output and is indicated via the bearing monitor’s red LEDs. The operator should react at once. More articles from ifm electronic Limited: |
