Cost saving January 1st 2006 Quickfit steam traps from Spirax Sarco have helped reduce the impact of trap failure and subsequent maintenance costs for Acetate Products' first set of production lines, encouraging the company to standardise on them for Filter tow production lines at its Derby site. Each new line includes five STS-17 trap stations.
Acetate Products says that it takes 1h to change a conventional steam trap for maintenance, requiring spinning machines to be altered and production to be lost.
The Spirax Sarco traps can be changed so quickly that normal production is not affected.
