Repairs in oily, damp areas
May 1st 2008

Belzona Polymerics, manufacturer of industrial protective coatings and polymer repair composites has launched a repair solution for applications in oily, damp conditions.

The company says repairs normally considered impossible due to oil contamination or surface moisture can now effectively be carried out using the new composite. Belzona 1831 (Super UW-Metal) is capable of bonding strongly to oily, wet and manually prepared metal substrates and has proved particularly successful within the power industry.

A UK electricity distribution company faced potentially high cost repairs due to oil leakage from transformer pipework. Belzona 1831 was applied directly to the leaking pipework, displacing oil and bonding aggressively to the contaminated surface. To provide long term protection, the pipework was encapsulated in a standard Belzona material – all in less than 2h.
