Avoid slips

The HSE states that the most common cause of reportable injuries at work are slips and trips.

Assessing potential risk areas is the first step to prevention. Flooring contractor Conren says that when carrying out a site survey it takes into account not only the client's industry, but the individual work processes involved.

It cites the example of a food production area where red tomato sauce spilled onto a red floor was causing a slip problem. Simply changing the colour of the floor made the spill visible, so it could be cleaned up, greatly reducing the hazard.

Conren points out that there is also a feel-good factor associated with having a colourful, safe and clean floor.
