Wizard solution to power supply

Cable & Wireless says it has improved the reliance of the standby power system at its Dock Street offices in London with the support of integrated power support company, Merlin Power Management. Undertaken to improve the resilience of the emergency mains supply and ensure sufficient reserve generator capacity in the event of equipment failure, Merlin Power engineered and project managed the contract from initial site survey through to installation, commissioning, testing and final handover. To best use the generator capacity available, it was decided that an existing 640kVA genset would be moved by Merlin Power from one of Cable & Wireless' London offices and relocated to the Dock Street facility.

Engineers then set about synchronising the generator with two other 640kVA generators already on site; this involved the design, manufacture and installation of a new three-way automatic synchronisation and control system.
