Super-size tank covers

Super-size A recent project for GRP cover designer, AMi Designs, involved the design and supply of five tank covers for the Knostrop waste water treatment plant in Leeds.

The company designed two large, self-supporting GRP covers 20.5m in diameter and fitted to concrete tanks 16m high. The company had to contend with the very restricted space on site which complicated the assembly process.

Other covers included two very large models of 25.5m diameter. These are believed to be the largest self-supporting covers of their type.

Darren Bishop, AMi director, comments "The Knostrop contract, which is valued at £220 000, is the latest in a number of new projects we are involved in and underlines our specialist engineering design skills in GRP cover design."
