PAT system records results on the move

A new PDA-based mobile PAT software system from Seaward Electronic enables users to record safety tests generated by all types of portable appliance testers, including those without an internal memory.

The PATGuard Workabout programme gives users easy access to asset and test records when working away from base.

The software is a specially adapted PDA version of the PATGuard Plus programme. It enables test results to be recorded in a PDA manually, directly via Bluetooth or downloaded from the tester for subsequent transfer to a PC-stored database.

Data can also be transmitted from test locations direct to databases held at head office locations by email.

PATGuard Workabout can be used with any portable appliance tester through direct input of test results. The new software is also compatible with tester download and upload routines undertaken with more advanced Seaward testers.

The device also gives field engineers the facility to record other test and inspections carried out on non-electrical items that might be included in more general safety inspections and audits.
