The right RCCB for every application
July 1st 2007 Merlin Gerin, a brand of Schneider
Electric, is now offering a
comprehensive family of RCCBs
(residual current circuit breakers).
This includes products for special
applications, such as those
involving unattended equipment or
corrosive atmospheres, as well
competitively priced standard
products for everyday applications.
The latest addition to the Merlin
Gerin RCCB family is the RED
range of devices which monitor the
effects of a transient earth fault and
automatically restore the supply
when the fault has cleared. RED
RCCBs offer a convenient option
for protecting installations in
unstaffed locations, such as
pumping stations and
telecommunications relay stations,
while minimising unnecessary
downtime.
For use where there is a risk of
RCCB tripping due to successive
lightning strikes, but supply
interruptions must be kept to a
minimum, Merlin Gerin offers type
Si devices. These are
complemented by type SiE RCCBs
which are fully sealed and are,
therefore, suitable for use in
corrosive atmospheres such as
those encountered in sewage
processing installations, chemical
