November 1st 2006 ecom instruments has added the intrinsically safe Ex-PL 30, to its range of hazardous area products. The 3-watt LED torch is available in two versions and was specially designed to withstand the rigours of continuous use in industrial environments. The torch is available as an intrinsically safe version for use in Ex-zone 0/20 and also in a rugged version for use in non-Ex areas. It has been manufactured with a robust anti-static polymer housing and rated IP65 and is powered by 3 x LR14 batteries, giving 4000 Lux and has been ergonomically designed to be comfortable and securely held, even in the most difficult operating conditions. The torch's 'ring-switch' mechanism makes it easy to use when the operator is wearing heavy safety gloves and because it is a 'noncontact' mechanism, the need for repair is greatly reduced.
