Vibration check
July 1st 2005

Sensonics has updated the condition monitoring system at a petroleum storage depot in Essex and retrofitted a vibration detection system.

The plant’s main line pump and motor station had been provided with just one channel of vibration on the pump, limiting fault detection capability.

The station, on a hill, is exposed and open to the elements, so Sensonics fitted four PZS3 type industrial accelerometers to replace the single channel system. These are of dual case, stainless steel construction and sealed to IP66/67.

They can be installed in minutes and are ATEX approved intrinsically safe for use in hazardous areas.

Sensonics also installed an Aegis modular machine condition monitoring system in the site’s control room, comprising MO9601 single channel vibration modules and MO9605 single channel temperature modules, with A1 (danger) and A2 (alert) alarms.
