Preventing rust without chemicals

Following the installation of an AquaKlear P120 system from Hydropath, there has been a significant reduction in corrosion at the Jordan Steel Factory outside Amman.

Management at the factory had been concerned about corrosion within pipework that was, caused by large quantities of sulphate-reducing bacteria, iron oxides and scale build-up.

These factors combined contributed to an overall reducing in the efficiency of the direct and indirect cooling system at the plant.

However, results indicate that, since the AquaKlear system was installed on pipework, there has been a reduction of iron oxide percentages in an 8-month period from 60 to 70% to 49%, which reflected positively on reducing corrosion rates.

Scaling percentages also reduced dramatically, resulting in the direct and indirect factory cooling system operating more efficiently.

Dr Daniel Stefani, technical director of Hydropath Holdings, comments "Hydropath technology is a proven means of physically conditioning water without the need for chemicals such as corrosion inhibitors, hypochlorate or sodium – depending on the application. Not only does this save our customers money, but it is a far more environmentally-friendly solution."
