Full filling potential
September 1st 2005

Rapak has installed four Bag-in-Box filling machines for Coca Cola Enterprises in Milton Keynes.

One of the company’s biggest projects in Europe, the bespoke installation comprises two Autokap fully automatic fillers and two Autokap bulk fillers. All have exceeded the customer’s brief in terms of output, accuracy of fill and efficiency.

The Autokap fully automatic fillers are highspeed servo driven devices that are producing 10 and 20L bags of post mix syrup over 12 and 9 bags/minute respectively. Rapak linked the fillers to the company’s process control system via an Ethernet system, making the installation simpler to control and more reliable.

The same system has been adapted for use with the Autokap bulk fillers that are filling new Arca 250L bulk boxes at a rate of 1 bag every 2min per filler.

Quick change bag into box loaders have been developed to reduce downtime significantly and maximise efficiencies. The rotating back-to-back load chutes features ‘quick connect’ technology that has reduced changeover times from 10 to 20L packs to less than 3min .
