Weight watching – plain sailing
November 1st 2007

High performance, interchangeable weighing assemblies designed for harsh environments, have enabled a manufacturer of super yachts to accurately weigh its craft.

Safemount weighing assemblies were supplied to a Middle Eastern yacht manufacturer by Applied Weighing and are now a key element in the construction of sea faring super yachts.

The luxurious yachts require extreme accuracy in their design in order to sail the seas safely. In particular, the weight of the craft and its centre of gravity need to be monitored closely during construction. Applied Weighing was asked to supply a suitable weighing system for this purpose.

Safemount weighing assemblies simplify accurate, safe weighing of heavy systems.

Integral jacking bolts allow for fast and easy installation and have added strength for extra safety.

They also have interchangeable capacities from 3.5 to 100t.

Applied Weighing supplied 28, 100tonne Safemounts, which were fitted under jacks. Using a plug-in weight instrument, which can be connected to each load cell in turn, the customer can observe the centre of gravity of the craft and monitor the weight at a number of specific points. This ensures that the yachts are constructed with the required degree of accuracy.

The company provides a supply, install and commissioning package, after-sales service and support.
