PDF catalogue search service May 1st 2006 DirectIndustry has launched a new service allowing engineers to search PDF catalogues by key word. The search engine instantly isolates the required text or datasheet from multiple catalogues of hundreds of pages in length.
"This demonstrates our principle of organising information intuitively to engineers, for fast and effective research." Corentin Thiercelin, DirectIndustry CEO.
Each search generates a summary of relevant pages enabling users to quickly select the most pertinent one and click on. A convenient tool bar allows them to print out the page, browse the surrounding pages, or send an email request directly to the manufacturer.
"I don't want a catalogue and a whole load of paper - I just want specific information that's hidden somewhere in there. This is a nice step in the right direction and saves me a lot of time" - Richard Brazee, R&D, Invensys Process Incorporation USA.
For exhibitors the service is free, unlimited and uses existing content.
Their PDF files are simply downloaded onto DirectIndustry making data that is otherwise buried away ultra accessible to its target audience. For visitors the service is super rapid since the original images have been converted from PDFs into lighter JPEGs.
