Ultrasonic meters
January 1st 2008

Glaxo Smith-Kline has installed non-contact, clamp-on ultrasonic meters supplied by Flowline.

Thanks to their non-contact, non-invasive ultrasonic principle, the company was able to install the Minisonic ultrasonic meters without the need for any process shut-down.

Rigorous testing proved that the Minisonic flow meters were capable of handling the fluctuating temperatures, without inducing errors on the measurement.

The Minisonic system can be used on pipe diameters from 10mm to 3.3m (up to 10m on some) and is effective on most liquids, including those which are non-conductive.

The unit's non-invasive, external probes are clamped on to the pipe for quick installation and immediate measurement, while set-up and operation can be performed either by keypad or external software.

Other features include new digital processing functions that use multiple processors resulting in faster response times.
