Partial discharge investigation November 1st 2007 EA Technology has launched a multifunctional partial discharge investigation tool, the UltraTEV Plus+. The product builds on the success of its UltraTEV Detector, winner of the Queen's Award for Innovation 2007. There are new features for investigating and understanding Partial Discharge (PD) activity in MV and HV switchgear. Like the Detector, the UltraTEV Plus measures PD activity in the form of ultrasonic and transient earth voltage (TEV) signals, but provides operators with more information about emission levels. Ultrasonic emissions are displayed as decibel readings as well as being converted into audible signals, which can be heard through headphones. TEV signals appear on the menu-driven colour LCD screen as numerical values, a bar graph, and as a green-amber-red indication. An optional plug-in microphone is available to investigate PD activity in hard-to-reach areas. More articles from E A Technology Ltd: |
