Multi-lane label checker
March 1st 2004

An ultrasonic sensor system from Leuze Mayser can simultaneously monitor multiple lanes of labels on a single web prior to them being slit into individual rolls for retail sale.

It enables manufacturers to achieve 100% quality assurance of reel content before the product leaves the factory.

The speedy VSU 15 system is said to provide label manufacturers with the easiest, most reliable operation available, enabling

up to 10 lanes (or channels) to be tracked independently. Each channel requires separate ultrasonic transmitter and receiver sensors to monitor high-speed label throughput. During the process, signals are constantly forwarded to a central evaluation unit where they are analysed before being sent to the labelling machines master controls.

Throughput speeds of up to 120m/min can be achieved.
