Gearing up
May 1st 2007 One of Hansen Transmission's
most recent drive packages is
being installed into an oilseed rape
refinery at Szamotuly in Poland.
The geared unit, a QVRM4, with a
drive ratio of 125:1, has 300kNm of
torque, and once commissioned
will work on a large drum which
combines
desolventiser/toaster/dryer and
cooler in one piece of plant.
The first section of the drum, the
desolventiser, is highly explosive in
its nature, giving rise for the 250kW
motor and gear unit to be ATEX
Zone 1 EEx d certified. The fluid
coupling and cooling fan have also
been further guarded
against arcs
and sparks, by
