Calculates the flow March 1st 2007 Pulsar Process Measurement has supplied three IMP units for use in a critical flow measurement application at Heathrow. Major airports cover a huge area and, when it rains, generate a lot of run-off surface water. At Heathrow, most of this water drains through three 1.4m dia circular pipes, with flow rates that vary between 10 and 1000L/sec. Discharge is to river, treated through a reed bed. Flowline supplied time-of-flight flowmeters to measure the velocity of the flow in the pipes. The system depends on an accurate measurement of the velocity of flow within the pipe and of the level (head) of the water. Ultraflux meters handled velocity measurement, which was integrated with the level signal produced by the Pulsar IMP units to calculate the flow rate. Simply installed, the selfcontained, non-contacting ultrasonic level unit is calibrated to give a consistent measurement of level. Echo processing software makes IMP suitable for both solids and liquids applications. More articles from Pulsar Process Measurement Ltd: |
