Compressor saves costs March 1st 2007 Thorite, supplier of pneumatic products and systems, has recently installed a new Hydrovane 11kW compressor at Bradford-based bespoke joinery manufacturers IMS Office Fitting and Design. Thorite's engineers spent a week data-logging the efficiency of IMS's compressed air system, which is used to drive CNC machines, air tools and spray equipment. The results pointed to problems with the production of compressed air and it was decided to simluate the replacement of the existing compressor. It soon became apparent that the new installation would enable IMS to make significant savings on its overall electrical consumption. In fact, with the new Hydrovane now in place, IMS reports savings of over £500 in annual electricity charges, as well as having benefited from tax relief, thanks to the compressor's "green" credentials.
