Position small loads fast October 26th 2007 igus has extended its range of linear belt drive actuators with the launch of a smaller version of its DryLin ZLW drive. DryLin ZLW-06-30 weighs one kilogram and measures one metre in length. It is suitable for handling lightweight loads, has low noise emissions and is fast running. Despite its low weight, it is also robust.
igus launched the original ZLW belt drive as one of the first positioning units on the market to be fitted with polymer plain bearings. The unit is maintenance-free, lightweight and can reach speeds of up to 2 m/s.
Its sliding elements are made of igus’ iglidur J polymer material and the bearings are injection moulded from iglidur L250. The housing parts are made of sturdy plastic and the profile of hard-coated aluminium. A second version uses ball bearings for the deflection shafts, which makes higher traverse rates possible. Apart from these bearings, this axis is also maintenance and lubrication-free due to the iglidur high performance polymer bearings used.
The derivative ZLW-06-30 was the result of enquiries from industries contending with confined installation spaces, which required some simple changes to enable them to position small loads within cramped conditions.
