Steel mesh barrier gives immediate safety zones March 1st 2006 Asteel mesh barrier (SMB) from Combisafe is used on all levels at Miller Construction's Innovation and Technology Centre development in Rotherham.
The new SMB has reinforced flat bar edges to prevent damage during handling and transport. The barrier can be attached to a post at any height without loss of strength and allowing work beneath it. The device comes with a special adjustment system that allows workers to move the barrier up and down without removing a stretch of barriers.
Features include a closed toeboard that creates an immediate edge protection for the structure, making it safer for the workforce.
The device can be fitted to steelwork at ground level through pre-drilled holes and is then craned into place, saving the contractor both time and money and reducing the need to work at height.
Hugh Ramsey, project manager at Miller Construction, says "Safety is a priority on all our sites and the selection of Combisafe for this job met our needs. We were able to use Combisafe throughout the erection of the steelframe, eliminating the need for handrails and creating immediate safety zones." More articles from Combisafe International Limited: |
