European debut
May 1st 2008

Bomac Engineering of Australia used this year's Safety & Health Expo to present to Europe its Altrac rigid rail fall arrest and rope access system, available through its subsidiary operation Bomac Europe.

The system is a pre-engineered package with a five-user and 7m span. It is lightweight, easily mounted to the structure and can be configured with bends if required.

To meet European compliance for fall arrest purposes, Altrac has achieved EN795 certification.

However, the company comments that preventing or arresting a fall is only part of any incident. How a person is retrieved if a fall occurs is also an important consideration. It is essential to act quickly and rescue the victim otherwise their body will start to go into shock.

In the event of a fall situation, the Altrac system is designed not to collapse and other users on the rail are not displaced.
