Safety showers July 1st 2008 When considering emergency
safety showers, the need to
provide water at the correct
temperature is not always
appreciated, according to
Hughes Safety Showers.
The company's
temperature controlled
emergency safety shower
is designed for outdoor
use where water
requires heating. Its
300L tank is fitted with a
3kW heater so that the
shower can deliver tepid
water for the ANSIrecommended
minimum
period of 15min.
Heated water is mixed with the
mains-fed cold supply through a
high-flow thermostatically
controlled valve to maintain
between 25 and 35°C.
Tank showers can also provide
tepid water and are suitable where
the mains supply is
unreliable. The top-of-therange
1200L unit delivers
sufficient tepid water for
15min, even if the mains
supply is disrupted.
In very hot conditions, tank
showers can be fitted with
insulation, sun shields and
even chiller units. At the other
extreme, Hughes tank showers
supplied to oil fields in North
America, have an insulated
booth fitted with a space heater
to keep casualties warm and
protect them from the elements. More articles from Hughes Safety Showers Limited: |
