Revised guide
March 1st 2008 BSI British Standards has
published a revised guide to the
specific requirements for the
construction and testing of
electrical apparatus with
pressurised enclosures, of
protection type 'p', intended for
use in explosive gas atmospheres.
Equipment used in hazardous
areas possesses features specially
designed to render it suitable for
operation in such atmospheres. It
is essential for reasons of safety in
those areas that, throughout the life
of such installations, the integrity of
those special features is preserved.
BS EN 60079-2 specifies
requirements for pressurised
enclosures containing a limited
release of a flammable substance.
The revised guide costs £142 +
£5.95 UK P&P to non members.
