March 1st 2008 Around 140 000 people die from
sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) each
year in the UK.
An automatic external
defibrillator (AED) could save the
life of an SCA victim. A portable
device, it analyses the victim's
heart rhythm and prompts the user
to deliver an electric shock if
required.
Available from Martek-Marine,
the Lifeline AED is simple to
operate and is designed for use
even by non-medical personnel.
Voice prompts guide the rescuer
through the steps involved. The unit
is self-contained and has preconnected
