Plastic barrel
November 1st 2005

The 318 laser barrel sensor from Leuze Mayser is expected to appeal to companies building automated conveying systems.

Its switching frequency of 5kHz allows precise positioning and detection of objects, while its hollow barrel design means accuracy is unaffected by changes in ambient fluctuations.

The unit's M18 plastic housing is believed to be the world's shortest for this type of device and the optic options allow the 318 sensor to be mounted either vertically or horizontally.

The sensor is available in three formats: throughbeam, polarised retroreflective sensor, and diffuse-reflective sensor.

A stainless steel model is also available.
