STORAGE DOUBLED FOR WAREHOUSE

Linpac Storage Systems has completed an adjustable pallet racking storage solution for a new warehouse for Widdowsons in Leicester.

The racking, which occupies a 65 000ft2 section of the warehouse, has more than doubled the company’s storage capacity for breakfast cereals and crisps.

Nick Abbott, senior operations manager for Widdowsons, comments The new racking has made our storage much more efficient and cost effective.

Instead of storing just two pallets high, we’ve now got five levels of pallet racking reaching up to a top beam height of 11m accessed by a fleet of articulated trucks.

The company’s storage capacity has increased from 5000 pallet locations to 10 500 and the racking has significantly brought down the storage cost per pallet.

Abbott continues This warehouse was particularly challenging due to the high speed turn-around of the food that is stored in it.
