Packline’s Mk5 Compac Lifter Reaches New Heights
January 1st 2007

When approached by a leading confectionary manufacturer to solve one of their lifting problems Packline needed to reach new heights. The customer required a piece of equipment that could lift sacks of ingredients weighing up to 100kg from floor level to a height of approximately 4 metres up to a mezzanine floor.

Because of the confined space the equipment needed to have the smallest footprint and be highly manoeuvrable. Packline set about and produced a bespoke lifting solution based on their recently launched Mk 5 Compac stainless steel lifter.

The lift height was achieved by developing a twin column arrangement where the second column was independently powered, this enabled a purpose designed tray attachment to be attached to the base of the second column allowing it to be at floor level when in the lowered position .Once the second column was raised to its full height the attachment could then be powered independently up the column to its maximum height of 4 meters.

To enable accurate positioning of the lift height and perfect alignment with the mezzanine floor a series of adjustable micro switch assemblies where incorporated into the design.

Chris Baker, Packline’s Managing Director, said “One of our best kept secrets is our ability to work with our clients to create lifting solutions specific to their requirements. There are certain applications not covered by Packline’s standard range of products and we can provide economical solutions to even the most difficult of lifting challenges.”

Chris also mentions that Packline’s design department is equipped with the latest 3D Cad software which ensures that designs can be developed and principles proven economically in the shortest lead-times.

Utilizing the company’s in house design facility and engineering resource enables Packline to provide its customers with a full design-to-manufacture service. Each new design is fully tested; CE marked, documented and detailed technical files created to meet the latest legislation and health & safety directives.

With both manufacture and assembly taking place within Packline’s modern workshop, using the latest CNC technology, coupled with stringent quality control procedures, enables the provision of a cost effective solution to customer requirements.

The company will be exhibiting the new Compac Lifter and its range of products at the Total Processing & Packaging Exhibition being held on the 15-18th of May 2007 at the NEC Birmingham and welcome the opportunity to discuss individual application please be sure to visit us in Hall 5 on stand 5425
