Reel wrappers head for turkey
May 1st 2007 A major equipment contract has
been secured by Orion Packaging
Systems (UK) with Viking Pulp &
Paper Mill, one of Turkey's largest
producers of paper products.
Products are made in large rolls
which need to be wrapped to
protect them against dirt and the
elements during transportation.
The company used to hand wrap
the rolls, but decided to automate
the labour-intensive process.
Orion has supplied two LP750
semi-automatic reel wrappers,
which are versatile enough to
handle reels of between 400 and
1600mm long and between 500
and 1800mm in diameter. They
weigh between 70 and 3000kg,
and up to 450 reels are wrapped
each day.

the rolls, the key benefit of this
installation has been the reduction
in film usage, which has dropped
from 6t/month to about 2.5t,
resulting in substantial cost savings
